The Olive Harvest

t’s that time of year again when everyone starts picking their olives in the hope that they have the minimum 3 kilos required by the local Moulin (mill). It seems to be, like most things around here, an art.

Apparently it’s recommended that you wait until the first frost to pick your olives, many, who are impatient simply cannot wait that long, but it is said that if you wait you get a much cleaner tasting oil as a result. So, whilst most people are out Christmas shopping, people in Provence are picking their olives!

I popped down to the Moulin today and there were masses of people clutching their bags of olives and their bottles eagerly awaiting to enjoy the freshest olive oil around.

I can’t wait to try ours!
